INITIATIVES
The Last Frontier Eco Alliance is an Environmental Justice Solutions organization that strives to work effectively at the intersection of social and environmental issues. We work innovatively at the grassroots level on Green Jobs and Education and operate with the triple bottom line of value: people, planet and profit. Driven to create a clean energy economy that works for all parties across the socio-economic spectrum and to unleash the power of media as a tool for positive social change.
1) YUKON RIVER MEDIA PROJECT a Youth-Empowerment and ~ADVENTURE SERVICE~ program where Photographers/ Filmmakers and University of Alaska students travel through wilderness to rural Alaskan villages to teach photography/ film in schools, help young people produce photojournalism projects and short films for competition. Students and Filmmakers get once in a lifetime culture and service experience, are able to create lasting impact thru healing creative arts process, develop transferable skills in youth, and are able to bring attention to solutions to challenges of poverty, education, climate, fishery, food security, water crisis etc. in an innovative way. Have spent the last two falls '08 and '09 canoeing down the Yukon camping on gravel bars and speaking with community members and schools about Climate and Energy Issues, building a network and developing the details that will make this vision work.
We are interested in discussing collaboration with technology and social entrepreneurship leaders, musicians, spoken word artists, photo and film professionals and other established social programs. Program launched fall 2010 and will be running monthly out of different Alaskan University locations to remote communities. We want your used camera and or laptop: direct donation, direct impact. Actively recruiting participants for January and Spring Break 2010 trips. Email for dates and details.
2) GREEN and DIGITAL JOBS connecting youth from established empowerment programs with jobs at socially responsible businesses. Through facilitating technology training, education and connections with digital work providers. As well as developing social enterprise and local Green Employer Council; circle of businesses that have made commitments to become environmentally friendly while additionally create pathways out of poverty for local youth through internships and job creation. Vision still developing.
3) FREELANCE events mc and event organization, creative, marketing and brand development, promotions, photo, video, street art, volunteer, social venture partnerships, expedition support, voluntourism
